If human rights and democracy are your passion…

The relevance of human rights and democratisation in the world today cannot be overstated. People are asserting their rights and creating spaces to protect these rights.

Human rights and democratisation is a rewarding and challenging field of study. If you are passionate about helping change the world, then studying with us is just the thing for you. Learn more about the APMA programme.

…and you are willing to learn,…

APMA is an intensive interdisciplinary one-year degree that reflects the inseparable links between human rights, democracy, and peace and development in the Asia Pacific region. It is a collaboration between the Institute of Human Rights and Peace Studies of Mahidol University (Thailand), Ateneo de Manila University (the Philippines), Kathmandu School of Law (Nepal), Universitas Gadjah Mada (Indonesia), and the University of Colombo (Sri Lanka).

You spend your whole year in two countries. Combined with the expertise of your professors and the diversity of the students and viewpoints in your classes, this gives you a unique experience in your study that’s hard to find elsewhere.

Scholarships for deserving students are available with the assistance of the European Commission. Look here for fees and funding opportunities.

…take part in promoting human rights and democracy!

APMA graduates are now working on civil and political rights, climate change, food security, disaster prevention and mitigation, humanitarian aid and development, to name a few. They can be found in national and international human rights and development organizations, national and intergovernmental agencies, businesses, and the academe.
